Tom's Pre-Bowl National Top 11

Article by Thomas Danielson, Senior Writer, secfootballpodcast.com
Alright, Alabama fans had it right all along. The Tide held the best SEC team and QB to only 31 points, and had the lead in the 4th quarter. Now isn't this year just perfect? Eight or more teams with really good arguments as to why they should be playing for the national championship. Who better to have the two best arguments of them all, the SEC and Big XII Champs? I gave Florida the nod for No. 1, for beating an undefeated #1 team in the SEC Championship. OU has the BCS and the Heisman, with Oklahoma State and Texas Tech being two of the best wins this year, so basically they edge Bama as our No. 2. Bama leads the rest of the pack with one loss, and will possibly finish as No. 2 overall behind UF, as did LSU and Georgia in '07. Texas and Tech also have great chances to finish with one loss as well, with the winner of the Rose Bowl between USC and Penn State to finish out the final top 5. Cincy had already clinched the Big East title last week and capped off the regular season winning their 13th regular season match-up in late 4th quarter comeback fashion at Hawaii. Boise fans, if there are any of you out there that read this blog, I bleed blue with you. You got snubbed; and Utah got the nod to be the first non-BCS team to make their 2nd appearance in the BCS. Hmm, and I picked TCU, so you got snubbed again. I'm glad the only At Large team with 2 losses to make the BCS is our very own reigning No. 11, Ohio St. Good luck Buckeyes, because luck is your only hope.

Absolutely no one is giving OSU a chance. It's not like they don't have Top 5 talent on their team. I wouldn't be surprised if OSU beats Texas and shuts everyone up.

Let's hope OSU does win, that's one less one loss team at the end, plus it will show that Texas can't handle the Buckeyes in a bowl game like the SEC can. :P

whoops.. left out No. 21 Ball St. up there.

Thomas said...

and no, I don't think Ball St could beat any other teams 22-25, but they have 12 wins nonetheless.

Out of all your Top 8 teams, your #1 had the worst loss. Ole Miss was a 20 point underdog who had just lost to Vandy and Wake. It's still unbelievable that Florida lost to an 8-4 Ole Miss team at the Swamp. Especially since the Gators are so bad ass now.

is an 8-4 ole miss worse than an 8-4 Iowa or 8-4 oregon st?

I think I should say ole miss is one of the best 4 loss teams in the country, maybe even better than those two.

Hello Tom. My name is Max Johnson from Huntsville, AL. I have been an Alabama fan now for 16 years. I am very happy to see that you gave our Tide credit for the great game they played against the Gators. Everyone should know that just because all your wins are close doesn't mean you are not a great team. 12 wins in any season is a great team. Thanks for the website and the podcast.

Hey Max. How do you feel about Bama missing the chance to play Texas or TxTech? BCS match-ups always suck pretty bad. Well you could say the Orange was the best it could be. This was my own personal BCS wish this year:

Sugar-Texas vs Bama
Fiesta-Boise vs Oklahoma
Rose-Penn vs Utah
Orange-Cincy vs V-Tech
Title-Florida vs USC
